Energy and Greenhouse Gas Management
Total internal energy consumption | Usage | Energy consumption (GJ) | Energy usage share | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Non-renewable fuels | ||||
Gasoline (liters) | 49,508.33 | 1,577.28 | 15.73% | |
Diesel (liters) | 54,933.74 | 1,987.73 | 19.82% | |
Liquefied petroleum gas (kg) | 300.00 | 15.56 | 0.15% | |
Purchased energy | Purchased grey electricity (kWh) | 1,790,922.80 | 6,448.79 | 64.30% |
Total calorific value of energy consumed (GJ) | 10,029.36 | 100.00% | ||
Density (GJ/million revenue) | 4.99 |
Note 1: Energy consumption data statistics cover: Kaohsiung Plant, Banqiao Office, Tucheng Office, Taichung Office, and employee dormitories.
Note 2: 1 kg of liquefied petroleum gas = 1.867 liters. The coefficient is derived from the unit calorific value table of energy products of the Bureau of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Note 3: Gasoline calorific value = 7,609 kcal/L, diesel calorific value = 8,642 kcal/L, liquefied petroleum gas calorific value = 6,635 kcal/L, electricity calorific value = 860 kcal/kWh. The coefficients are derived from the 2014 calorific values of gasoline and diesel for vehicles published by the Ministry of Environment and the unit calorific value table of energy products of the Agency of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Note 4: The unit conversion factor is 1 calorie = 1 calorie = 4.187 joules.
Note 5: The denominator of density is the annual factory revenue in millions.

Note 2: Greenhouse gas coefficients refer to the Ministry of Environment’s Greenhouse Gas Emission Coefficient Management Table Version 6.0.4, and gasoline and diesel emission coefficients use the greenhouse gas emission coefficients announced by the Ministry of Environment on February 5, 2014.
Note 3: Inventory methodology: GHG Protocol.
Note 4: Greenhouse gas inventory scope: Carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), and nitrogen trifluoride (NH3), a total of 7 greenhouse gases.
Note 5: Greenhouse gas inventory is conducted using the operational control method.
Note 6: Emissions intensity = (total Scope 1 + Scope 2 CO2 equivalent emissions) / annual total revenue.
Note 7: Global Warming Potential (GWP) version: AR6
Energy saving solution categories | Solution Description | Estimated energy saving (kWh) | Estimated energy savings (GJ) | Carbon reduction (ton CO2e) |
---|---|---|---|---|
Replace factory lighting | This year, the factory replaced the 500W mercury lamps with 36 120W LED lamps (145 lamps have been replaced in the entire district in recent years). | 27,360 | 98.80 | 12.96 |
Replace acetylene welding machine | This year, due to the replacement of acetylene welding machines with oxyhydrogen welding machines, the purchase of acetylene was reduced by 964 kg. | - | - | 3.26 |
total | 27,360 | 98.80 | 16.22 |
Note 1: The electricity carbon emission coefficient adopts the 2024 electricity carbon emission coefficient of 0.474 kg CO2e/kWh announced by the Bureau of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Note 2: The chemical formula for acetylene combustion is 2C2H2 + 5O2 → 4CO2 + 2H2O. Based on this, it is estimated that burning 1 kg of acetylene is equivalent to approximately 3.3846 kg of carbon dioxide emissions.
